Pet feeders were one of the first products
that A Leg Up started with in 1989. That was the year Stephanie
and I (I'm Bill) got married. Our first gift to one another was
Sophie, our Bluetick Hound. Wanting to know as much as possible
about her, we read everything we could find on dogs. In one of
the books was a side note on how raising up the food bowls to a
dog's height improved posture and aided in digestion. It also
said for older, arthritic or displasic dogs, raising the bowls
put less stress on old hips and bones, so the large Doggie Diner
was born.
Less than a year later, we got Max, a Cairn
Terrier and the small Doggie Diner was created. Working with
local pet stores and friends, our design evolved into the current
models you see here. Originally just functional, our products
developed to not only serve the needs of your dog, but also to be
an attractive addition to your home.
We build and finish our products ourselves
at our shop in Petaluma with our five employees.
Solid wood and water based finishing products assure you of
quality and a healthy regard for our environment.
